Police are investigating an arson incident in Dangriga Town, Belize, where a fire destroyed three houses on Commerce Street on the evening of October 15, around 6:00 p.m. Officers who responded to the scene found the structures fully engulfed in flames.
Initial inquiries indicate that neighbours noticed a blaze in one of the buildings and promptly alerted the fire department. However, the fire quickly spread to two adjacent structures. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames, but the total extent of the damage remains undetermined. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding this destructive fire, which included the historic James Chee dry goods and grocery store.
