A Belize City family is hoping that a post mortem examination which is expected to be conducted sometime this week on the body of their loved one will be able to bring closure to his death, after he reportedly drowned while doing watchman duties at Feinstein Boat Yard on Seashore Drive in Belize City.
The deceased, Marc Russell, 29, of a Pelican Street address, was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital just before 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, after he reportedly fell in the sea and ingested water. While efforts were made to conduct CPR on Russell, he was officially pronounced dead at 4:38 p.m. that same evening.
”Information revealed that the deceased was doing security guard duties along with another security guard in that area when he suffered a seizure and fell into the water hitting his head on one of the boats and went underneath the boat. The person that was there attempted to rescue him but he could not bring him out,” explained Sr. Supt Hilberto Romero, deputy head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch.
Romero told reporters that investigators do not suspect foul play and that Russell had a history of suffering from seizures; however, a post mortem examination will be able to confirm his official cause of death.
Russell’s sister, Kenya Russell, also told The Reporter that her brother has been living with the condition since he was a child.
