United Democratic Party celebrates 51st Anniversary

The United Democratic Party marked its 51st anniversary on Friday, September 27, at the Henry Young Building, bringing together Standard Bearers from across the nation for a memorable celebration.

During the event, Hon. Party Leader Dr. Shyne Barrow reflected on the party's legacy of resilience and service, highlighting its history of electing five government administrations focused on improving the lives of Belizeans. “The UDP has achieved the highest number of General Election victories since Independence, contributing significantly to the development of Belize,” he stated.

He emphasized the party's achievements in various sectors, including economic growth, education, healthcare, infrastructure, poverty alleviation, employment, citizen security, food security, youth, sports, and culture. Dr. Barrow called upon members to honor the contributions of past leaders, such as Hon. Philip Goldson, Hon. Dean Lindo, Sir Manuel Esquivel, and Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow.

“The strength to form the next government of Belize lies within us, as long as we remain focused and engaged with the communities we aim to serve,” he urged, vowing to fortify the UDP’s institution for future successes.

Following dinner, several party stalwarts were honored during the second annual UDP Awards for their dedication to serving Belize and the party. Deputy Chairman Alberto August received the Philip Goldson Lifetime Achievement Award, while National Campaign Manager Lindsay Garbutt was recognized with the Dean Barrow National Leader Award.
